Here Captain Grigoropoulos Stylianos takes us through a luxury charter on board Nomad, from her plethora of water toys to the impressive amount of amenities that will keep guests entertained whatever the time of day or night.

Can you tell us a little about your background and how you got into yachting?

During my naval term, I attended distance e-learning courses at the University of Athens in the field of Human Resource Management. I graduated from the Marine Academy in 2003 and first held command on passenger ships and high-speed ships up to 120 metres at age of 31. I’ve been a captain since then, and the last six of those have been spent on Nomad. I entered the yacht industry when I was proposed by the previous captain and since then I have been able to distinguish myself with the trust and dynamism that I possess.

How would you describe the owner’s vision? 

His mission is to provide the highest level of service in order to satisfy the most demanding international clients, but especially and above offer an unforgettable sailing experience.

How would you describe the style and personality of Nomad? 

Nomad was originally built for private family use so she has homely and cozy vibes with a modern and fun feel. She has many open areas where guests can relax, unwind, feel the sea breeze and enjoy the stunning sunrise and sunsets which make for picture perfect memories.

How would you describe the ambiance on board? 

The atmosphere on the ship is extremely good. There is trust, creativity, efficiency and understanding. 

What’s your personal style as captain? 

I’m very calm and always to listen to everyone’s needs. I always put safety first though but never compromise on fun. I want all my crew to feel free to approach me and together achieve our goals. I’m hospitable and friendly with a lot of experience in maneuvering.

What’s the best thing about working on Nomad?

The whole crew works together to make guests feel at home. I feel very happy that I have this crew because they are professional, friendly and enthusiastic, and everyone knows exactly what they need to do. 

What are some of her standout features? 

She is built with an aluminium hull and aluminium/grp superstructure which means she offers greater onboard space and is more stable when at anchor. She also has an incredible selection of water toys and accessories for guests to enjoy – they love taking to the sea on the jet skis. Another excellent feature are the towable toys which offer fun and adventure. The water skis are also hugely entertaining whether you are a beginner or a seasoned pro.

Nomad also features scuba diving equipment, wakeboards, canoes, fishing equipment and paddleboards, and when it comes to tenders, she has guests covered with two.

Guests can also find plenty to keep themselves busy and entertained on board such as a piano which is perfect for creating a relaxed atmosphere. Guests can visit the wet bar with nine-person jacuzzi and disconnect for a little peace and quiet too.

She also has a state-of-the-art movie theatre for movie nights, a sauna and luxury spa, pool and gym with all the latest equipment.

Which types of client are most attracted to charter Nomad? 

Mostly families and for business purposes.

What types of experience can you offer charter guests?

We can offer the best island experiences through island hopping, where we visit uncrowded beaches and enjoy lots of water adventures. We also love serving up exquisite meals on the beach with incredible table set ups exclusively for our guests. 

We can also take them to places they’ve never been before and experience scuba diving in sunken ships accompanied by our professional scuba divers.

How would you describe the style and approach of the crew?

From the very first step on board Nomad, guests are welcomed warmly with scented towels and refreshing drinks, giving them a quality service in every way.. Τhe crew loves what they do, there is optimism and confidence and they feel joy and always show interest.

Please share some examples where you and your crew have gone above and beyond to make the guest experience as special as possible.  

We once had a pirate-themed dinner where all the guests and crew wore pirate costumes and did a treasure hunt for the guests. We also had pyjama-themed dinner party where the crew serenaded the guests after dinner.

Are there any interesting personalities or talents among the crew?

We have a professional diver and some experienced fishermen on board. 

How are the yacht and the crew prepared to accommodate children and teenagers on charter?  

The crew are always prepared when it comes to having children on board. Some of our crew have experience in childcare too so we can make sure that they are safe while have fun at the same time.

Tell us about the toys and tenders – which toys are the most popular with guests?

We have inflatable slides, a jet ski, inflatable donuts, inflatable bananas, water skis, towable inflatables for one and two people, and there are also two tenders 6.9 each with 220 HP. There is  something for everyone! 

What are your usual cruising grounds?

Ιt depends on the passengers, but they usually choose to sail Mediterranean sea, visiting the Greek islands, and Turkish and French coasts. The Caribbean is also a fantastic destination, as it the United Arab Emirates. 

Which destinations and your personal favourites and why?

Definitely the Greek Islands. They are abundant with berths that are well protected, which means that the cruise will always be smooth. Then there’s the amazing beaches, the historical destinations and of course, the food. 

What have been some of the highlights or your favourite memories as captain?

The favourite memories are the compliments from our guests and of course their smiles. I have enjoyed amazing trips in all over the world - this was my dream, to see different countries and cultures. Nomad gave me this opportunity to live this and I’m so happy and proud to be on this adventure.
