Her stunning lines, high quality carpentry, sleek mill work, and traditional furnishings give the impression of a comfortable yacht which is also a home from home and, as such, perfect for families or groups of friends.
With interior and exterior design by Michael Leach on a traditional country house style theme and a top cruising speed of 16.7 knots, Firebird delivers an incomparable stay in sumptuous surroundings with every attention to detail catered for. If it’s timeless elegance and understated luxury you’re in search of, then you need to look no further.
The Captains
Captain Leo Hammett began his yachting career in 2007 and now works on rotation with fellow British Captain Paul Harman, a highly experienced captain who has logged over 100,000 miles on superyachts. “Paul and I did a lot of charters on Martha Ann and we are loving the process of building the success of Firebird” he explains, “It’s good to see guests coming back for a second and third time, and I think that’s mainly because we have an incredible crew.”
The Experience
An extraordinary amount of expertise has gone into the creation of Firebird, resulting in a beautifully crafted vessel both inside and out. Wow factors include a salon which converts into a disco, a skylounge which doubles as a cinema and an upper deck marble hammam, air-conditioned gym, hot tub and massage room.
Sun worshippers will adore the dual purpose heli-deck, which also serves as a sun lounging deck, while each cabin’s en suite features heated marble floors. Perhaps the most impressive feature is the open plan master cabin, which is double ceiling height, with walk-in wardrobes and an en suite bathroom. This leads up to a spectacular private observation lounge and cosy seating area which can be accessed only through the master cabin.
The crew are friendly and always on hand for guests’ needs. “The crew are among the best in the business, creating a friendly and fun atmosphere with hyper efficient attention to detail. They keep the yacht spotlessly clean inside and out,’ says Captain Leo Hammett. ‘Watersports instructors hone the guests’ skills on the multitude of toys, and expertly drive the sports boat and the limousine tender. We simply want to exceed guest expectations, even for the most demanding and experienced yacht charterers.”
The Cuisine
Nothing is left to chance where cuisine is concerned either. Clients can dictate the ingredients and style of menus they prefer and anything they require is within the chef’s capabilities. Wherever possible, the chef loves to cook with local produce, crafting dishes that are as fresh as they are delicious, catering to each and every taste with ease.
“We’re very open to food plans, special diets and low allergy food stuffs,’ adds Captain Leo. “The preference sheet – or if they’re repeat clients, our notes – are useful when planning menus for birthday parties or celebrations on board. We learn quickly what they want so that they are always happy.” While fresh local fish, seafood, light salads and vegetable dishes are perennially popular, the chefs like to surprise guests with new tastes and combinations, and presentation is as important as the food itself.
The stewardesses also pride themselves on creating beautiful table decorations to complement the theme of the menu. The dining experience on Firebird is always superb whether it’s a formal occasion in the wonderful setting of the Flag Deck or an impromptu BBQ on the beach.
